1. The short version
This website is the home of the Sightseeing Sophie book series, and where you can buy the books. It has no user accounts or sign-ups, and it doesn’t ask you to hand over personal information just to browse.
2. Contacting us
If you use the form on our contact page or email us at info@sightseeingsophie.com, we receive what you choose to send (typically your name, email address and message) and use it only to reply and help you. We don’t sell or share it. Depending on how the form is set up, your message is either handed to your own email app to send, or delivered to us by our form provider, Formspree.
3. Buying books
The books you add to your bag are remembered in your own browser (its local storage) until you check out — we don’t see your bag before then.
Our checkout is provided by Stripe. You type your card details straight into Stripe’s secure payment form; they never pass through or get stored on our own servers. To send your order we receive your name, email address, shipping address, what you ordered and whether the payment went through, and we use that only to fulfil your order and help with any questions about it. Stripe handles payment information under its own privacy policy.
Orders placed in our earlier online shop at shop.sightseeingsophie.com are covered by that shop’s own policies.
4. Cookies, analytics and logs
This site doesn’t set its own tracking cookies or run advertising trackers. Like virtually every website, a few technical things happen behind the scenes:
- we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and can’t identify you. It notes the page, the site that sent you, your country, and your type of device and browser, and tells visits apart with a code made from your request that is discarded within 24 hours, so we only ever see totals;
- our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance;
- web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the standard technical data involved in serving a file;
- on the checkout page, Stripe’s payment form loads from Stripe and uses its own cookies to help prevent fraud.
5. Children
Our books are for children, but this website is intended for parents, teachers and gift-givers. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date above.
